Prior to establishing IBA Solicitors, Ilyas was a Senior Solicitor with Nabarro Nathanson, one of the country’s top commercial law firms. Ilyas spent five years at Nabarro Nathanson specialising in employment law and in total has over ten years specialist employment law experience.

Ilyas' clients have included numerous household name clients including several FTSE 100 companies, local and central government departments, NHS Trusts and Universities.

Ilyas is an experienced advocate and conducts his own advocacy before the Employment Tribunal and has also appeared before the Employment Appeal Tribunal. His experience includes advising clients in relation to appeals before the Employment Appeal Tribunal and the higher appellate courts.

Ilyas also has substantial experience of public sector employment law and is able to advise clients on employment related public law issues as well. Ilyas was previously a solicitor with Leeds City Council where he specialised in employment law and public law.

Ilyas also advises on all aspects of Immigration Law with a particular emphasis on Corporate Immigration matters, including Work Permit applications, Highly skilled Migrant Programme and the Worker Registration Scheme.

• Sergeant Khan v West Yorkshire Police Authority (ET) (reported in Discrimination Law Digest IRLR and ICR) The case was later appealed to the House of Lords and is the leading case on victimisation.
